Answer is B.

In an electric generator, a rectangular coil is placed in between the magnetic field and when AC current flows through the coil from the split ring commutator, a torque acts on the coil which rotates it continuously. To keep the torque from reversing every time the coil moves through the plane perpendicular to the magnetic field according to Fleming's right hand thumb rule, the split ring device is used to reverse the current at that point and maintain the direction of the current in the external circuit to flow in the same direction as DC current. The split ring commutator is made from 2 pieces of copper that are held apart in the center from touching each other. They look like a copper ring split in the middle. Hence, it is called as split ring commutator.
Hence, in a DC generator, the induced e.m.f. in the armature is AC.
