In a fig, ABCD is a parallelogram, AE perpendicular to DC and CF perpendicular to AD. If AB = 16cm, AE = 8cm and CF = 10cm, find AD.

Solution

Given : ABCD is parallelogram. AB = 16 cm, AE = 8 cm, CF = 10

Area of the parallelogram – base×height

Therefore area of parallelogram ABCD=CD×AE=AD×CF

16×8=AD×10[CD=AB=16]

Opposite sides of a parallelogram

AD=AD=16×810=12.8cm

Thus the length of the side AD = 12.8 cm
