Let the original fraction be n/d.

2n= d+2 …(1)

(n+3)/(d+3) = 2/3, or

3(n+3) = 2(d+3), or

3n +9 = 2d + 6, or

3n = 2d-3 …(2)

Multiply (1) by 3 to get 6n =3d+6 …(1a)

Multiply (2) by 2 to get 6n =4d-6 …(2a)

Equate (1a) and (2a), or

3d + 6 = 4d -6, or

4d-3d = 6+6, or

d = 12

Hence , 2n= d+2 = 12+2 = 14 or n = 7

The original fraction is 7/12.

Check: (7+3)/(12+3) = 10/15 = 2/3. Correct
