In a given square ABCD, if the area of triangle ABD is 36 cm2, find (i) the area of triangle BCD; (ii) the area of the square ABCD.

The diagonal of a square bisects it into two congruent triangles.

(i) Area of triangle BCD = Area of triangle ABD = 36 cm2

(ii) Area of square ABCD = 2 × Area of triangle ABD = 72 cm2
