In this case the archer hits the same spot multiple times but not the apple. This means that his shots are precise but not accurate.

Precision by definition is the closeness of various measurements for the same quantity. If the average of different measurements is close to each other and hence closes to their actual value, the measurement is said to be accurate. In simple words we can say that the measurement is precise when the outputs we get in multiple repetition of an experiment are close to each other. But, they need not be close to the actual value.
