Question

In a long distance race, the athletes were expected to take four rounds of the track such that the line of finish was same as the line of start. Suppose the tength of the track was200m. What is the displacement of the athletes when they touch the finish line?

Solution

Step 1: Given Data:

Length of the track, =200m

Four rounds were taken by athletes.

Step 2: Total Displacement:

As we know, displacement is the shortest path between the initial point and the final point.

So for one round, in this case, finish point and starting points are the same, so Displacement=0

And since, four-round were taken by athletes. Displacement=4×00m

Hence, total displacement to be covered by the athletes, =0m
