In a market, Bananas cost Rs. 24 per dozen while 10 Apples are sold for Rs. 100. Then, by how many times is an Apple costlier than a Banana?
five times
If the cost of 12 bananas is Rs. 24, then the cost of one banana is 2412=2.
If the cost of 10 apples is Rs. 100, then the cost of one apple is 10010=10.
Cost of one banana is equal to Rs. 2 while the cost of one apple is Rs. 10. The ratio of cost of an apple to cost of a banana is 10:2 = 5 : 1
∴ The apple is five times costlier than the banana.
