Now choose the INCORRECT statement: (a) atoms become positive ion (b) the electrons detached from an atom become free and are called free / conduction electrons (c) the electrons attached to the atom is called bound electrons (d) positive ions and free electrons move from one part of the conductor to other part

Solution

(d) positive ions and free electrons move from one part of the conductor to other part
In metallic conduction, only electrons are the charge carriers and they move from one part of the conductor to the other. Under external electric field, electron aquires average velocity which tends them to move in opposite direction of the electric field.
Positive ions donot move and are intact in their position.
