In a mixture of 45 litres, the ratio of milk to water is 13: 2 How much water mst be added to this mixture to make the ratio of milk to water as 3 : 1?

Let $x$ litres of water is added,

Original mixture has water $=\frac{2}{15}\times 45$

New mixture is $45+x$ litres & water in it $=\frac{1}{4}(45+x)$

Also water is $(\frac{2}{15}\times 45)+x$

$\Rightarrow \frac{45+x}{4}=6x\Rightarrow 45+x=24+4x$

$\Rightarrow 3x=21\Rightarrow x=7l$
