Solution

Mixture:

  • A mixture is an impure substance.
  • A mixture consists of two or more substances that are not combined chemically.
  • A mixture may be homogeneous or heterogeneous.
  • A mixture does not have any specific properties of its own. Each constituent exhibits its original properties.
  • For example, oxygen in the air supports burning, but nitrogen helps in the formation of proteins.
  • Due to this, in a mixture, the constituents do not lose their identities that is, a mixture retains the characteristics of its constituent.
