In the given figure,
$A B = 12 c m$
$D M = 5$
$A D = 8 c m$
Area of parallelogram $= b \times h$
$= 12 \times 8$
$= 96 c m^{2}$
Again take $h = 8 c m$
Area of parallelogram $= b \times 8$
$96 = b \times 8$
$b = \frac{96}{8} = 12 c m^{2}$
Then,
We get $A D = 12 c m^{2}$
