In a physical change, no new substance is formed and the chemical composition of substance remains the same. There are changes in physical properties like shape, size, appearance, etc. It can either be temporary or permanent.
For example, cutting of paper:- In this, no new substance is formed as the paper is cut into smaller pieces and these cannot be reverted to the original state. Hence this physical change is a permanent one.
Melting of ice:- In this, no new substance is formed and only the state of ice is changed from solid to liquid. Moreover, this change is temporary as the original state of the ice can be reattained on cooling.
