In a place, bananas cost Rs. 24 per dozen while 10 apples are sold for Rs 100. Then how many times an apple is costlier than a banana?
five times
The cost of 12 bananas is Rs. 24, then the cost of one banana is Rs. 2412=Rs. 2
The cost of 10 apples is Rs. 100, then the cost of one apple is Rs. 10010=Rs. 10
The cost of one banana is equal to Rs 2 while the cost of one apple is Rs 10.
The ratio of cost of an apple to cost of banana is 10:2 = 5
∴ An apple is five times costlier than a banana.
