In a place, the cost of bananas is Rs. 24 per dozen while 10 apples are sold for Rs 100. Then how many times an apple is costlier than a banana?
five times
The cost of 12 banana is Rs. 24, then the cost of one banana is 2412=2.
The cost of 10 apples is Rs. 100, then the cost of one apple is 10010=10.
The cost of one banana is equal to Rs 2 while the cost of one apple is Rs 10. The ratio of cost of the apple to banana is 10:2 = 5:1.
∴ apple is five times costlier than the banana.
