Question

In a pressure cooker, food is cooked faster. Explain.

The steam formed in pressure cooker is not allowed to escape to the atmosphere. Hence the pressure on the water surface consequently builds up, resulting in the b.p of water increases. Due to increase in bp at about 120oC the food cooks faster in pressure cooker.
