Open in App
Solution

BCD is right angle triangle,

So, by using Pythagoras theorem,
(BD)2=(BC)2+(CD)2

(3)2+(12)2
9+144

153
(BD)=317 cm.

ABD is right angle triangle,
So, by using pythagoras theorem,

(AD)2=(AB)2+(BD)2

(13)2=(AB)2+(317)2
(AB)2=169153

(AB)2=16

Taking square root on both sides,

AB=4 cm
