The correct option is C 5 kHz
Given that,
Velocity of sound (v)=340 m/s

Distance moved by the sliding tube (x)=17 mm

When the sliding tube moves by a distance x, path difference effected is 2x.

When intensity varies from minimum to maximum value, path difference is increased by λ2
2x=λ2x=λ4
But, λ=vf f=v4x

Substituting the given data, we get

f=3404×17×103=5000 Hz or 5 kHz
