In resonance column,
first resonance occurs at
l1+x=λ4.... (1)
Second resonance occurs at
l2+x=3λ4.... (2)
From Eq. (1) and (2), we get
l2+x=3(l1+x)

Thus x=3l1l22=3×22.770.22=1.05 cm.
Third resonance occurs at
l3+x=5λ4.
l3=5λ4x=5(l1+x)x=5l1+4x=5×22.7+4×1.05=117.7 cm
