Solution

The correct option is A Hypotenuse is double the shorter side
It is given that, in a right angled triangle, one acute angle is double the other angle.

So, let C=2A.
Now, let’s construct AD = AC which meets CB produced at C.

In ΔABC and ΔABD,
ABC=ABD=900
AC=AD (by consruction)
AB=AB (common)
ΔABCΔABD, (by RHS congruence criterion)
BD=BC (CPCT)........(1)
BDA=BCA .........(2)
BAD=BAC .........(3)
C=2A=2x(let)
BDA=BCA (from(2))
BDA=2x
and BAD=BAC (from(3))
BAD=x
In ΔADC,
ADC=ACD=DAC=2x
So, ΔADC is equilateral triangle
AD=AC=DC
AC=DCAC=BD+DC
AC=2BC (from (i))
So, the hypotenuse is double the shorter side.
Thus, the correct answer is option (a).
