Pythagoras' theorem states that “In a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse side is equal to the sum of squares of the other two sides“.

Let PQR be the triangle with PQ=9cm,QR=12cm

Then according to Pythagoras' Theorem;

PR2=PQ2+QR2PR2=122+92PR2=144+81PR2=225PR=225PR=15

Hence, the hypotenuse is 15 cm.
