In a school 5/8 of the total students are girls. If the number of girls is 120 more than that of the boys , what is the strength of the school ? How many boys are there ?

Let, the total number of students be x
no. of girls= 5x/8.

Number of boys students = x - 5x/8 = 3x/8

ATQ, 5x/8 - 3x/8 = 120

or, (5x- 3x)/8 = 120
or, 2x/8 = 120

or, 2x = 120 x 8 =960

or, x = 960/2

or, x = 480

Therefore the total strength of the school is 480.
total number of boys = 3x/8=(480 x3)/8=60 x 3= 180

total number of boys = 180
