Number of boys

$$\begin{gathered} =\frac{7}{12}\times 1176 \\ =\frac{8232}{12} \\ =686 \end{gathered}$$

Number of girls will be

$$\begin{gathered} =1176-686 \\ =490 \end{gathered}$$
