Solution

The correct option is D 54.16
Given that,
Total number of children in a school = 500
Number of boys in the school = 60% of 500
=60100×500=300
Number of girls in the school = 40% of 500
=40100×500=200
Now, as given that 40 boys leave school and 20 girls are newly admitted in the school,
Number of boys left = 300 - 40 = 260
Number of girls left = 200 + 20 = 220
Now, total number of children in the school = 260 + 220 = 480
Percentage of boys in the school
=numberofboystotalnumberofchildren ×100
=260480 ×100
=54.16%
