Find out the mean & median of the above marks.

Mean = $\frac{sumoftotalobservations}{numberofobservations}$

Sum of total observations = 77 + 43 + 39 + 56 + 96 + 47 + 53 + 45 + 45 + 55 = 556

Total number of observation = 10

Mean = 55.6

For median arrange in ascending order

39, 43, 45, 45, 47, 53, 55, 56, 77, 96

Since even number of observation

So the median is the average of the ${\left(\frac{n}{2}\right)}^{th}$and ${(\frac{n}{2}+1)}^{th}$observation

i.e 5th and 6th observation

=$\left(\frac{47+53}{2}\right)$

= 50
