Solution

A simple solution is basically two substances that are evenly mixed together. ... A solute is the substance to be dissolved (sugar). The solvent is the one doing the dissolving (water). As a rule of thumb, there is usually more solvent than solute.
But in this case,Basically this solution is saturated and I am guessing you know the solute and the solvent. What you can do is divide the solution into two beakers. In each add an extra amount of each substance. Whatever appears in one of the beakers as a separate phase is the solute. The solution becomes supersaturated and cannot hold any more solute (this is the practical approach).
