Question

In a test (+5) marks are given for every correct answer and (- 2) marks are given for every incorrect answer.
(i) Radhika answered all the questions and scored 30 marks and get 10 correct answers
(ii) Jay also answered all the questions and scored (-12) marks though he got 4 correct answers
How many incorrect answers had they attempted?

(i) Radhika got 10 correct answer, So Marks obtained from them = 10 × 5 = 50 Mark
But she got 30 total marks,
So 50 - 30 = 20 marks, she got for negative marking
So, incorrect question attempted = 20/2=10

(ii) Jay got 4 correct answer,
So Marks obtained from them = 4 × 5= 20 Mark
But he got -12 total marks, so 20 - (-12) = 32 marks, she got for negative marking
So, incorrect question attempted = 322=16
