Solution

,For small angle prism, angle of minimum deviation is given by,

δm=(μ1)A

where δm is angle of minimum deviation,μ is refractive index, A is angle of prism

Also at angle of minimum deviation, A = 2r

=(μ1)(2r)

=(1.51)(2r)

=0.5×2r=r

Why this question?
Tip: For thin prism (of small angle), formula for minimum deviation simplifies to:
μ=A+δm2A2=A+δmA
