We know that emf is produced in a coil when the flux through it is changed. Flux in the coil can be changed by moving the coil or by moving the magnet. In a three phase generator, there are three seperate coils inclined at 120 and a moving magnet. Moving magnet causes change in flux in the three coils and hence three electrical signal with different phases are produced.
