If the side cutting-edge angle is increased, the length in contact during action will be higher for a given depth of cut. So, wider chips will be produced. Hence (a) and (b) are incorrect.

Since the volume constancy has to be maintained, if the chips are wider than the thickness will reduce. Hence the chips produced will be thinner and wider.
