Area of shaded region $=$ Area of square $-4$ $\times$ Area of $1$ quadrant

$=S\times S-4\times \frac{1}{4}\pi r^2$

$=7$ $\times 7$ $-4$ $\times$ $\frac{1}{4}\times \frac{22}{7}\times 3.5\times 3.5$ .......$\because r=\frac{7}{2}$

$=49-38.5=10.5$ ${cm}^2$
