Vs = 110 volts
Vs=√VR2+(VL−VC)2 where VR,VL, VC is voltage across resistance, inductor and capacitor. From above formula it's obvious that VR or (VL−VC) can't be larger than Vs. So, difference of VL & VL should less than Vs(110V). But individual value of VL and VC may be grater than 110 volts. So, D is correct answer.
