The αdecay is represented as,

AZX A4A2Y+ 42He

We know that,

Q=K.Eα+K.EY

K.EY=QK.Eα

K.EY=5048=2 MeV

According to conservation of momentum,

|PY|=|Pα|

We know that,

K.E=P22m

K.EαK.EY=mYmα

We know that, mass of the nucleus is proportional to mass number,

K.EαK.EY=A44

48 MeV2 MeV=A44

A=100

Therefore, the mass number of the daughter nucleus is A=100.
