In an army camp, there was food for 1000 soldiers for one month. After 10 days 1000 more soldiers joined. How long would the remaining food be sufficient for the soldiers?
10 days
Suppose that one soldier consumes one unit of food per day.
Then, total units of food on first day will be 1000 x 30 = 30,000
Hence, the amount of food that's consumed by 1000 soldiers in 10 days is 10,000 units.
∴ Amount of food left after 10 days = 30,000 - 10,000 = 20,000 units
Number of soldiers after 10 days = 1000 + 1000 = 2,000
They eat one unit of food each day.
Hence, the number of days that 20,000 units of food will be sufficient for 2,000 soldiers is 200002000 days, which is, 10 days.
