In an election there were two candidates A and B. The total number of voters in this constituency were 60,000 and 80% of the total votes were polled. If 60% of the polled votes were cast in favour of A, How many votes were received by B?

Step 1: To find the number of votes were received by B

It is given that total number of votes =60,000

Total number of polled votes =80% of 60,000

=80100×60,000

=80×600

=48000

Step 2: Now find 60% of 48,000

60% of 48,000

=60100×48000

=60×480

=28,800

Number of votes received by A=28,800

Number of votes received by B =48000-28800

=19200

Hence, the number of votes received by B were 19,200
