Question

In an electrical circuit two resistors of 2ohm and 4ohm respectively are connected in series to a 6V battery. Find the heat dissipated by the 4ohm resistor.

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
Net resistance of the circuit, R = 2 ohm + 4 ohm = 6 ohm.
Voltage applied, V = 6 V
Current in the circuit, I = V/R = 1 A
Heat dissipated by the 4 ohm resistance per unit time, P = I2R =12×4 = 4 Watts
