In an electrolytic cell the signs of the cathode and anode are
positive and negative respectively
negative and positive respectively
both are positive respectively
both are negative respectively
In an electrolytic cell, the anode is positive and cathode is negative.
The positively charged ions are called and the negative ones are called anion. But why the electrodes used in electrolysis have opposite signs, i.e.the electrode having positive sign is known as anode while, the negative electrode is known as cathode?
