In an examination, a student's average marks were 66. If he had obtained 10 more marks in Geography and 2 more marks in Maths, his average would have been 68. How many subjects were there in the examination?
6
Let the number of subjects = x Then, Total marks he scored for all subjects = 66x
If he had obtained 10 more marks for his Geography and 2 more marks in Maths, his average would have been 68
=> Total marks he would have scored for all subjects = 68x
Now we can form the equation as 68x - 66x = the additional marks of the student = 10 + 2 = 12 => 2x = 12 =>x=12/2=6.
