In an examination, a student scores $4$ marks for every correct answer and loses $1$ mark for every wrong answer. If he attempts all $75$ questions and scores $125$ marks, how many questions did he answer correctly?

$L e t t h e n u m b e r o f c o r r e c t a n s w e r s b e x, W r o n g a n s w e r s = 75 - x, G i v e n, t o t a l m a r k s = 4 \times x - 1 \times (75 - x) = 125 ⟹ 5 x - 75 = 125, x = 40$
