In an examination, out of 90 students, 30 were boys and the rest were girls. One-sixth of the boys failed. The number of girls that failed is twice the number of boys that failed. Find the ratio of the boys and girls who passed the examination.

The correct option is A 1:2
Total students who appeared = 90
Number of boys = 30
Number of girls = 90 – 30 = 60

Number of boys who failed = 16 x 30 = 5
Number of boys who passed = 30 – 5 = 25

We know, that the number of girls who failed is twice the number of boys who failed.
So, Number of girls who failed = 2×5=10
Number of girls who passed = 60 – 10 = 50

Ratio of the number of boys and girls who passed the examination:
25:50, i.e., 1:2
