In an experiment, the two opposite ends of a cart are attached to two horses respectively. The two horses are trying to move the cart in their respective directions, but it is observed that the position of the cart does not change. What can be the possible explanation?
The net force acting on the cart is zero.
The cart is at rest even after the application of force by the horses. Hence, we can conclude that the net force acting on the cart is zero and the forces which are applied by the two horses are equal in magnitude, but they are in opposite direction.
