Question

In an uncompensated Electrodynamometer wattmeter, when a current
i(t) = [8 sin(ωt - 30) + 12 sin(2ωt - 10)] A is applied to its current coil and a voltage
v(t) = [(250sin(ωt + 10) + 300 sin(3ωt - 40)] V is applied to pressure coil, then the meter will read ______watt.
  1. 766.04

Solution

The correct option is A 766.04
Voltage applied across pressure coil,

v(t)=[250sin(ωt+10)+300sin(3ωt40)]V

Current flowing through current coil,

i(t)=[8sin(ωt30)+12sin(2ωt10)]A

Power will only be due to fundamental component of voltage and current,

P=Vrms×Irms×cosϕ

=2502×82×cos(10°(30°))

=250×82×cos40o=766.04watt
