Tecoma stans. Winged seed. The seed coat is extended to form a flattened wing and so the seed is carried further by the wind. Ecologically the seed may be compared to the resting zygote of lower plants. This complicated structure, which with certain modifications is also found in Calceolaria with dichogamy, but may also occur independently, as in Tecoma radicans. The existence of much smaller anemochorous microspores in other plants.
