Quantum number:-

  1. It is a set of numbers that is used to describe the position, energy, and orientation in space of the electrons of the given atom.
  2. There are four quantum numbers principal, azimuthal, magnetic, and spin quantum numbers.

Subshell:-

  1. It consists of one or more orbitals which are used for the making up of the electron shell.
  2. It is a subdivision of electron shells.
  3. They are labeled as s, p, d, and f.
  4. Each subshell is constrained to hold 2l+1 electrons at most.
  5. For example:-In s subshell, where l=0 the maximum number of electrons having the same value of the spin quantum number is 2(0)+1=1.

Therefore, in any subshell, the maximum number of electrons having the same value of the quantum number is 2l+1.
