Question

in basicity of acid, what are replaceable hydrogen ions , is there anything known as non-replaceable hydrogen ions

Open in App
Solution

Yes. There are some hydrogen which are non replaceable.
For ex the reaction of sulphuric acid with base sodium hydroxide,
H2SO4 + NaOH NaHSO4 + H2OHere both hydrogens are not replaced by Na, so the basicity is 1.If both are replaced, like the following reaction, the basicity is 2.H2SO4 + 2NaOH Na2SO4 + 2H2O
