Solution

Autogamy, or self-fertilization, refers to the fusion of two gametes that come from one individual.
The main advantages of self-pollination are as below:
  1. A very few pollen grains can pollinate the flower.
  2. The purity of the race is maintained.
  3. Self-pollination avoids wastage of pollen grains.
  4. Fewer chances of failure of pollination.
