In case of a paternity dispute about a child with blood group B+ve, what technique can be used to solve the dispute, if the blood group of the mother is AB+ve and the father is O+ve?
Blood group analysis and DNA profiling both are necessary
An O+ve man and AB+ve woman can give birth to a child with B+ve blood group. But this evidence is not enough to prove the fatherhood. Hence, DNA profiling is required to confirm or reject the claims. DNA profiling or DNA fingerprinting looks at the differences in the arrangements of nucleotides of a person and hence is a more concrete and reliable evidence for accepting or rejecting a claim.
