Solution

The correct option is D
According to the situation,
Let number of students in section A be x
and in section B be y
Now, half the number of students in section A will be x2
so Number of students in section B will be x2+8

Now, we can write the relation between x and y as
y=x2+8
Now on putting different values of x, we will get the values of y and will cross check all the mapping diagram.
Now, let us make table for different values of x and y
x(students in section A) y(students in section B)
6 11
8 12
12 14
13 14.5 Not Possible
16 16
18 17
20 18
22 19
when number of students in section A is 13 so students in section B should be 14.5 according to the condition which is not possible as students cannot be in fraction.

Now, comparing with the table we can say that mapping diagrams in options (a),(b) and (d) best explain the condition.
