In coastal areas, during the day, the air above land is hotter because land gets heated faster than water. That’s why the cooler air present over the sea moves towards the land. This is called sea-breeze.
But during the night, the opposite of this occurs as the land cools down rapidly and hence, air becomes cooler above the land and air above sea becomes relatively hotter as water takes time to cool down. So, at night, cooler air from land moves to the sea which is called land-breeze.
