Question

In complex numbers if the form is a+bi where a and b are real numbers and variables for I the value given is -1 ,I square =-1 is it not a constant?

Open in App
Solution

In a complex number z = a + bi, i is a constant given by i^2 = -1. That is, i is the square root of -1, an imaginary number.
If a and b are both constants, then z = a + bi is also a constant. If either
or both of a and b are variables, then z = a+bi is also a variable.
