Question

In covering a distance s metres, a circular wheel of radius r metres makes s2πr revolutions. Is this statement true? Why?

Solution

Calculate the number of revolutions.

The distance travelled by a circular wheel of runits radius in one revolution is equal to the circumference of the circle which is equal to 2πr.

So, the number of revolutions completed in 2πrunits distance =1.

Number of revolutions completed in 1unit distance =12πr

Number of revolutions completed in sunits distance

=12πr×s=s2πr

Hence, the given statement is True.
